Starting position & objectives

The challenge

A medium-sized engineering company regularly collaborated with Chinese partner companies. The handover of workpieces between China and Germany was complex: several departments – including purchasing, logistics, and accounting – each had to maintain different information per delivery. Additionally, various export formats were required for Chinese partners, tax advisors, and internal purposes.

The solution in detail

Our answer

We developed a bespoke ERP tool in Excel with the following functions:

  • Macro-assisted automation: time-saving functions for data import, export, and validation
  • User Rights & Visibility: Login-based Control – Each department only sees the columns relevant to them
  • Alarm functions: automatic notifications for critical or delayed shipments
  • Centralised Collaboration: Sharing via a Dropbox, ideal for decentralised teams
  • Professional, intuitive design: Clear structure, simple operation, adaptable to future requirements

The result

Clear and convincing

The company is benefiting today from a significantly more efficient international supply coordination process. The error rate has been reduced, internal coordination simplified, and external requirements (e.g., tax documentation) can be met quickly.
